Entrepreneur and philanthropist Vito John Germinario joins IAMDC Board of Directors

We are honored to announce that Vito John Germinario, entrepreneur and philanthropist, has joined the Board of Directors of the Italian American Museum of Washington DC (IAMDC).

Vito John Germinario is CEO and Co-Owner of GPR, Inc., a commercial glazing company, and Managing Principal of LGV Group LLC, a commercial real estate development firm. Vito arrived in Washington from New York in 1994, to lead the team that completed the facade of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Since then, he has been involved in projects at the National Museum of the American Indian, E. Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse, GSA building, and the National Intrepid Center for Excellence at Bethesda Naval Hospital.

A first-generation Italian American, Vito grew up in Hoboken, New Jersey, as the oldest of four children. His father Antonio emigrated from Molfetta, Provincia di Bari, in Puglia. His parents stressed education from an early age. He was taught by the sisters of Saint Francis in grammar school and by the Jesuits at St. Peter’s Prep and St. Peter’s University in Jersey City. Italian culture has always fascinated Vito, as evidenced by his twice-yearly trips to Italy.

Vito’s passion is helping children, a cause to which he dedicates time, energy and resources. A longtime supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, he was honored with their 2014 Hitchcock Humanitarian Award for leadership and philanthropy. He serves on the Breath of Life committee and is fully committed to helping find a cure.

Vito has been honored by numerous other organizations. He has received an Achievement Award from the ALS Association. In 2018 Make-a-Wish America created an Award for Excellence to honor him. That same year, the Lido Civic Club named Vito as the 2018 Man of the Year, thereby placing him a long list of distinguished past honorees, among them Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Sam Alito, Senator Rick Santorum, racing legend Mario Andretti, and businessman Chris Clemente. An active member of the Lido Civic Club, Vito serves on the group’s Executive Committee and is Chairman of the Lido Club Civic Charities.

Among his many board memberships, Vito is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors at Make-a-Wish Mid-Atlantic and continues his support on its alumni board. In addition, he serves as: Chairman Emeritus at Excel Academy, an all-girls public charter school in Washington D.C.; Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at his alma mater, St. Peter’s Prep; Chairman of the Board at the Middleburg Community Charter School; Vice Chairman of the Board of the Ryan Bartel Foundation, a youth suicide prevention organization; a member of the Advisory Board of the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind; and a member of the National Board at Entryway, a group dedicated to improving the lives of the homeless.

In his never-ending passion for helping children, Vito serves in educational programs and activities that support and empower youth, families and the community. For many years, he was Vice Chairman of the Board of the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, a New-York based organization that helps pediatric brain tumor patients and their parents. He is a founding member and Board Chair at Feathers from Devon, a New-York based non-profit that assists children with developmental challenges.

Vito recently joined the Board at Annunciation Catholic School in Washington, DC. In June 2025, he will become a member of the Board of Visitors at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia School of Law.

Vito is a Sustaining Member of the Italian American Museum of Washington DC, and a generous supporter of the museum’s Legacy Grant program for area college students.

He is a Life Member of the NRA, serving on the Youth Services Committee.

Vito and his wife Kristin, who were married in 1997, live in Bluemont, Virginia.
