In our first cultural event of the year, the Italian American Museum of Washington DC welcomed artists represented in its galleries and artists’ guests to preview new works recently donated to the museum. Three local Italian American artists recently gifted new pieces to the museum: “Momento,” by Alessandra Ricci, “Impudent Mother,” by Antonella Manganelli and four sculptures by the late Dr. Massimo Righini.

Museum President Francesco Isgro delivered brief remarks, calling the galleries a “vibrant space that looks to the future as it respects the past.” He concluded by saying: “Visual art has always played a central role in Italian culture. Artists help us to see the world in new ways and to envision a better future. They insist on the importance of beauty, imagination, and creativity. In these turbulent times, we hope these small galleries provide you with a moment of hope and inspiration.”
Board Chairman Ciro DeFalco raised a toast to the gathering and Isgro recognized the many volunteers who made the program possible. Guests then enjoyed refreshments.
