NYC Police Lt. Joseph Petrosino, slain by the mafia, remembered at Italian American Museum ceremony

A ceremony held at the Italian American Museum of Washington DC honored NYC Police Lt. Joseph Petrosino, who was assassinated by the Mafia in Palermo, Sicily, while investigating connections with the Black Hand Society in New York City. In the presence of Petrosino’s grand-nephew, Nino Melito Petrosino, a portrait of Joseph Petrosino was unveiled. It will be hung on the museum's "Law and Justice" wall, along with portraits of Giovanni Falcone and others.


Guest speakers were Dr. Lorenzo Bucossi, Police Attache at the Embassy of Italy, and Nino Petrosino, who also presented his book “Joe Petrosino l’incorruttibile.”

Guests were also welcomed by Fr. Walter Tonelotto who gave brief remarks.
