Our multitalented friend Oscar Bartoli was remembered today at the 10:30 Italian Mass at Holy Rosary Church. Oscar passed away on January 31, 2024. He was born on August 2,1935.
Lawyer and freelance journalist, Oscar has worked with many Italian media. He lived in Washington, D.C. from 1994 to 2023, when he decided to return to Rome, Italy.
A city councilor for the Liberal Party in Palazzo Vecchio (Florence), he still bears the marks of t

he beatings given to him by his communist 'comrades' at the time for going to speak in the squares where only the PCI ruled. He worked for many years in the SMI group, a European leader in the non-ferrous metals sector, later in IRI as head of media contacts and later IRI USA director. He taught for ten years at the Luiss School of Journalism and for two years at Catholic University in Washington DC. He taught a course on communication in the Master of International Relations at IULM in Milan. A Rotarian for decades, he helped establish two clubs in Rome and was president of the Cassia Romana and the Washington Rotary Club. As a young man, to pay for his studies but, above all, because he liked it, he worked as a guitarist - singer playing in people's homes, Catholic circles, night clubs, radio and television.
Oscar is survived by his wife Franca, sons Max and Marco and daughters-in-law Fabiola and Romi.
Oscar and Franca were generous supporters of the Italian American Museum of Washington DC. Oscar together with Franca were interviewed for the Marconi oral history project.
